Beyond the HOSR mission to conduct a safe and fair race on one of the most challenging courses in the country, we pride ourselves on providing a unique and unforgettable regatta experience. We work year-round to give back to the community and lead efforts in sustainability. We showcase Philadelphia and the Schuylkill River, not only as the birthplace of American rowing, but in its continued role as one of the most significant rowing venues in the country and home to legends in our sport and those in the making.
The two-day regatta takes place during the last full weekend of October. College crews race on Saturday along with the majority of para, elite and masters rowers, while high schools, and additional elite, masters and veteran events reign on Sunday. Recent years have seen the addition of alumni and family races! Competitors may row multiple events. More than 260 clubs, high schools and colleges participate annually, hailing from New Hampshire to Florida, California and Canada, Europe and Australia, with suburban Philadelphia and New Jersey schools notably represented.
