Annabel Eyres OLY, studied at The Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art and Pembroke College, Oxford University where she also learnt to row. She competed in the Women’s Boat Race against Cambridge and then rowed for Great Britain. She went on to compete in the Double Scull at the Barcelona Olympics in 1992 and was part of the GB team on and off, from 1987 until 1996.
Her rowing images were first designed as souvenir T-shirts for a variety of major rowing events, which she sold to finance her international rowing career through a company she formed called Rock the Boat. The company still operates today under new ownership but many of Annabel’s designs are still for sale via www.rock-the-boat.co.uk.
Annabel took up rowing again on the Masters circuit three years ago when former competitor, Mary Mazzio of the US, persuaded her back into a boat for Henley Masters Regatta in 2017.
